Quotas were set by age, gender and region to match the general population of the province and as such the data did not need to be weighted. Since the research is conducted online, it is considered to be a non-probability proportion sample; therefore, margins of error are not applicable.  However, the margin of error can be estimated to be ±3.5 percentage points, 19 times out of 20 for questions answered by all respondents. About SaskWatch Research® Insightrix began developing its SaskWatch Research online market research panel in 2007, using high quality techniques, including telephone recruitment and referrals from existing panel members. Presently, there are over 20,000 active panel members representing all regions of the province and distributions of the general population. We are so excited to introduce the Insightrix 10 SPCA Cat Adoption Drive again for 2022! There are things in life you must experience to understand. Your first love. A first child. Your once-in-a-lifetime pet. How does a pet get this title? It's not just their unique personalities that set these guys apart. It's also the fact that they accompany us through periods in our lives that are also "once in a lifetime," like childhood, young and single, a pandemic, just getting married, etc. These times can be heavily laden with emotions, ranging from exhilarating happiness to debilitating sadness, stress and worry. But, for better or worse, our constant companion is there with us and for us. The Insightrix 10 A few years ago, Insightrix donated money to cover the costs for the adoption of 10 cats at the Saskatoon SPCA. These ten cats were unique in that they were the hardest to find a home for, and as a result, many had been at the shelter for an extended period of time. The paid adoption fees were hopefully an extra incentive to get them adopted and find their forever home. We called these kitties "The Insightrix Ten." Insightrix kept in close contact with the SPCA on their adoption status throughout the promotion. The last kitty, who was facing some health issues at the time, was Darlene. But then, on Tuesday, January 30, 2018, we got the most delightful news! Darlene was headed to her new happy home that afternoon with a lovely couple who promised to give her the life she deserves. Little did we know at the time, or did Leigha, the adopter of Darlene, that a true love story was blossoming.   Darlene Now Darlene was special! She was a quirky cat with lots of love and drooled when she was content. Leigha and her family gave her the full name of Darlene "Sweetie" Buscemi since she was a sweetheart and because of her wonky eyes. Leigha adopted Darlene, who had no teeth and digestive and gluten issues and had already been returned twice to the SPCA, perhaps heading to the "unsuitable for adoption" list. Toothless, Darlene loved to smile when she was happy. Leigha loved to see her funny gummy smile. Darlene was a cuddle bug who constantly snuggled on Leigha's chest daily. Sure, Darlene would throw up daily after eating, but that didn't bother Leigha and her family. She was simply the sweetest, gentlest, and cuddliest cat their family had ever known. Recently, Insightrix was notified by the owner of Darlene that she had passed away in her sleep on July 13, 2022. Even though it didn't seem like a long time for Leigha, it was longer than their family, and their veterinarian thought, and they cherished every moment they had with Darlene. Has Darlene earned the title of the once-in-lifetime cat? It sure sounds like it! This once hard-to-place cat became a great love for one family – showing that love can come from the most unsuspecting places. Leigha and her family are now celebrating the life of Darlene, reflecting on the unconditional love she provided the family. A family that can open their arms to Darlene and care for her these past few years is bound to be deemed by the Cat Gods as worthy of another once in lifetime cat – and that will be one lucky kitty! In appreciation for Leigha sharing the story of Darlene with Insightrix and in memory of Darlene, Insightrix is proud to start another "Insightrix Ten" pet adoption drive to match kitties needing a bit of help with families looking to care for them. Meet the New Insightrix 10! Look at these handsome bois and girls. You have Veronica, Strawberry, Steve-O, Oslo, Suri, Tinky, Elvis, Tyrek, Holland and Morris! All looking for their forever home!  Update: September 1, 2022 - all kitties have been adopted! ...

Recently, Insightrix Research independently ran a survey from November 26 to December 3, 2018, to find out more about whether the stockings in Saskatchewan were hung by the chimney with care, in hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there. Residents share their insights on their holiday purchase intentions, including how much they plan to spend, where they plan to purchase gifts and their online holiday shopping behaviours in 2018. Of those surveyed… 93% of Saskatchewan residents say they plan to purchase holiday gifts this year. And as the prairie children were all nestled snug in their beds, some seniors and grandparents (55+) decided they did not want to bend. “Purchase gifts?” they said, with a big hefty sigh...

It looks like it’s going to be spooky in Saskatchewan for Halloween 2018. We ran an OnTopic survey with 800 people from all over Saskatchewan on our online panel, SaskWatch Research®, earlier this month to find out how Saskatchewan residents plan to spend their Halloween in 2018 – and we found out that more than half of Saskatchewan residents (59%) plan to celebrate the spookiest holiday this year. This is less than the 66% who planned to celebrate Halloween in 2017. We also found out that about the same amount of men (60%) and women (58%) plan to celebrate Halloween in 2018, and that more folks with more than one kid in their household (77%) plan to get in on the fun than those without any children (48%). Saskatchewan residents of Indigenous ancestry (70%) are also more likely to plan to get in on the Halloween festivities.   What will they get up to for Halloween 2018? When we asked Sask. residents who said they planned on celebrating Halloween 2018, we got a whole range of responses. According to our survey, it looks like Saskatchewan residents are planning a traditional Halloween this year. The top responses we received were: hand out candy (75%), decorate (49%), take the kids/grandkids trick or treating (46%), dress up in a costume (38%), watch a scary movie/TV show at home (27%), eat the kids’ candy once they’ve gone to bed (23%), go to a haunted house (15%) and dress up the family pet in a costume (12%). Is it possible to be a Halloween Grinch? Maybe – as 1% of residents who plan on celebrating Halloween also plan to turn off the lights and hide when the doorbell rings.  Where will Saskatchewan trick or treat this Halloween? Saskatchewan residents have a whole lot of choices when it comes to where they plan to trick or treat this October 31. Of the folks who stated they were planning to take the kids or grandkids trick or treating, 38% said they plan to stick to their local neighbourhood/close to home, 17% said an unspecific neighbourhood, 14% stated they plan to trick or treat at friends’/families’ houses, 10% had a specific neighbourhood in mind and almost one in ten (9%) said they plan to hit up malls/businesses for their candy.  Stop trick or treating? At what age? We asked everyone who completed our survey what age they thought it was appropriate to hang up the pillow case for good and stop trick or treating. What we found out was that almost one third (31%) of Sask. residents think that you are never too old to trick or treat. Respondents between 18 – 34 years old (41%) and between 35 – 54 years old (35%) are more likely to hold this view than those over the age of 55 years (19%). Also, women (34%) are more likely to agree to the statement than men (28%). Of those who thought that trick or treating should have some age limit placed upon it, 28% believe that pre-teen (11 – 13 years old) is the age to give up the candy hunt. Grandma and Grampa agree – 36% of those over the age of 55 years think pre-teen is the right age to give up trick or treating. In descending order, here were the other responses to the question of what is the appropriate age to quit trick or treating: 14 years old – 23% 15 years old/16 years old – 6% 10 years of age or younger – 5% Kids shouldn’t be trick or treating anyway – 2% (What?! Come on folks!)    Lots of Halloween fun on the way for Saskatchewan! It turns out that many Saskatchewan residents are planning on getting in on the fun this Halloween. And many of those planning to celebrate Halloween have a range of plans for activities. Trick or treating remains a relatively popular activity, judging by the number of residents planning to hand out candy this year and take the kids or grandkids trick or treating - and the places they plan to go to get that candy are quite varied. What are you getting up to for Halloween 2018? Let us know through our SaskWatch Facebook account or on our Instagram account. We’d love to hear your plans! Lang will be giving a presentation relating to specific research done for Saskatchewan Polytechnic in regard to enhancing the experience of international and permanent resident students. In his presentation at the 2018 CIRPA Conference, Effective Integration of International and Permanent Resident Students, Lang will describe some of the insight gained from a recent project with Saskatchewan Polytechnic aimed at enhancing the experience of international and permanent resident students. During the project, Insightrix conducted in-person in-depth interviews with identified international and permanent resident students attending Saskatchewan Polytechnic campuses throughout the province to understand the challenges these students face. The presentation will focus on student interviews and identify challenges students face from the student perspective, from initial arrival to integration and the institutional supports required to make their transition successful. Insightrix is proud to be a Silver sponsor of the 2018 CIRPA Conference. The presentation will be held at 11:40 AM in the South Ballroom of Sheraton Suites Calgary Eau Claire in Calgary, Alberta on October 22. ***UPDATE*** The final three members of the Insightrix 10 have found forever homes! As of February 1, the final member of the group, Darlene, was adopted - meaning that all of the kitties Insightrix sponsored over the holidays have found homes. We at Insightrix would like to thank not only those who took these cats home, but also all of those who liked, shared and retweeted our messages to help get them adopted.  Operation Cat Adoption has been a success – but three feline friends still need a forever home. Over the holidays, because our animal friends are often forgotten around this time of year, Insightrix sponsored 10 cats from the Saskatoon SPCA – paying their adoption fees for whomever could give them a home for the holidays. We’d like to give a short update on how those cats are doing. We’re very happy to say that seven of the cats we’ve come to affectionately call “The Insightrix 10” have already been saved from the big house, and are now happy in their new adopted homes. Thank you to all of the people who gave these cats a home. One of the cats, Darlene, has fallen under the weather over the holidays and is recuperating at the Saskatoon SPCA Animal Care Centre. She should make a complete recovery, though, and will be available to adopt soon. Stay tuned to Saskatoon SPCA and Insightrix social media for updates on her condition. The two remaining members of The Insightrix Ten are still at large and are still looking for a forever home. Both Chestnut and Rachel are currently waiting at the Stonegate Petland in Saskatoon, SK for a new friend to help them by bringing them home. Through Insightrix sponsorship, the adoption fees for these cats have been prepaid and they are ready to take home. If you could welcome one or both of these fine feline fellows into your home, or know someone who could provide a safe and stable forever home, please head to the Stonegate Petland in Saskatoon and take them home. You know they would appreciate it, and you’ll gain a friend for life. Insightrix would like to again thank the Saskatoon SPCA for making this possible, and for their continued work here in Saskatoon, as well as all SPCA locations, for the great work they are doing. If you’d like to contact the Stonegate Petland for more information or to arrange adoption, please call them at (306)934-3920....

In November, Insightrix and SaskWatch partnered on a campaign for SaskWatch members – giving residents of Saskatchewan the chance to win free groceries up to $1,000 to use at the grocery store of their choice while at the same time having a donation of $1,000 made to their local food bank. Through the month of November, SaskWatch members liked, shared and promoted the campaign and we are happy to announce the winners! Congratulations to Keith, our Grand Prize finalist! The promotion’s lucky winner was chosen on December 1st and Keith B. from Saskatoon won NOT ONLY $1,000 worth of groceries for himself, but also won the chance to donate another $1,000 to his local food bank! On December 8, Insightrix was thrilled to have the opportunity to drop off Keith’s $1,000 donation to the Saskatoon Food Bank & Learning Centre.   The Saskatoon Food Bank and Learning Centre Executive Director, Laurie O’Connor, was delighted to receive the donation and made sure to pass on her thanks, not just to Keith, the Grand Prize winner, but to everyone who participated. Give back to charities with SaskWatch points! Even though the Free Groceries promotion has finished, SaskWatch members are still giving back to charities all over Saskatchewan! For every survey completed as a member of the SaskWatch community, members can donate their earnings to the over 75 charities listed on the site. Not only do SaskWatch members donate a sizeable share to these charities, most of those charities were recommended by community members themselves....

Throughout the month of November, Insightrix Research and SaskWatch Research ran a promotion to support and promote SaskWatch® – Saskatchewan’s favourite and largest market research community – as a way, not only to reward our new and existing community members, but as a way to give back to those who need it at a time when they need it most. The promotion saw unprecedented participation, with people from all over Saskatchewan getting in on the action, sharing and liking our posts on Facebook and Instagram, and referring new community members. Now, with the promotion ended… We have a winner!!! The SaskWatch Free Groceries campaign has ended, and the Grand Prize winner has been chosen – Keith B. from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan won $1,000 in groceries AND gets the opportunity to donate another $1,000 to his local food bank.
