Holiday Shopping Forecast: Santa Claus is Coming to Town

According to a new independent Holiday Shopping Forecast poll conducted by Insightrix Research Inc., Santa Claus will be visiting Saskatchewan this Christmas as 93% of residents plan on buying gifts this holiday season. Kids of Saskatchewan will be happy to hear that households with one or more children (98%) are more likely to say that they intend to buy gifts compared to households without children (90%).

Women are ahead of the curve in terms of their holiday shopping as 25% indicate that they have already purchased all their gifts, relative to 18% of men. However, there is still plenty of time to shop as 42% of residents who plan to buy, say they will likely complete their shopping in the first half of December. Interesting to note is that most do not plan on taking advantage of Black Friday or Cyber Monday deals as only 8% plan to buy gifts on these days.

For the holiday shopping forecast, gifts do not come cheap as just under one half (46%) plan to spend more than $500 on gifts this year, which is similar to planned spending in 2014.

You still have time to get off that naughty list, because Santa Claus is indeed coming to town!

Research Details
A total of 800 randomly selected SaskWatch Researchâ„¢ panel members participated in the online research study from November 18th to 22nd, 2015. Quotas were set by age, gender and region to match the general population of the province. As the research is conducted online, it is considered to be a non-probability proportion sample and therefore, margins of error are not applicable.

About SaskWatch Researchâ„¢
