Adjusting to the New Normal – Ethnography Study
There are time periods in all our lives that we will all remember – and March 2020 will be one of the moments for Saskatchewan residents, when COVID-19 officially impacted all our lives and we were immediately forced into a form of lockdown.
This is uncharted territory for all of us, and so at the end of May, Insightrix wanted to provide select members from our SaskWatch panel the opportunity to engage on how they were adjusting to the new normal.
Using ethnography research, we recruited 21 residents to participate in a two-week diary using the Revelation platform, powered by FocusVision. We asked them to answer a series of questions and complete a variety of tasks involving everything from discussion boards, posting videos and posting images to sharing a piece of their daily lives with us.
Each day, participants were asked to participate in one or two different activities on differing subject areas – including subjects such as media consumption habits, life with social distancing, experiences with homeschooling, trying new things and more.
Engagement in this study was more than 90%, and the data collected through this research were insightful, as the research allowed respondents to participate beyond traditional surveys and express themselves while allowing researchers to dig deeper through interactive prompting and one-on-one discussions with participants.
